Gülbeden Kulbay releases and exhibits a new print edition about the pain of grief and the act of mourning together.

Grafikens Hus is pleased to welcome you to the release of the screenprint/linocut Mekanı Cennet Olsun at Konsthall C. The artist Gülbeden Kulbay, together with the master printer and artist Cecilia Enberg, will unveil the artwork, which is part of the release of ‘Edition Grafikens Hus’. A performance in the form of a mourning ritual, performed in the centre of Farsta earlier this year, has resulted in this edition of prints. Parts of carved linoleum tiles and photographs created during the mourning ritual have been used in the print and new perspectives have been created from it. The edition is available for sale in the Grafikens Hus Fine Art Print shop.

The evening begins with a welcome from Nina Beckmann, director of Grafikens Hus. This will be followed by a performance by artist Gülbeden Kulbay and singer Safiye Bahadır. Artist Gülbeden Kulbay and master printer Cecilia Enberg will then share the printing process in a conversation. The print edition will be released for sale in the Grafikens Hus Fine Art Print shop on the same day as the release, November 14, at 5 pm. The first five works in the edition can be purchased on site, first come, first served. Otherwise, visit shop.grafikenshus.se.

‘Every day we are inundated with information, news and events that can evoke many different emotions and states. They can be sad and hopeless, they can be happy and hopeful. The social system we live in welcomes some emotions more, and others less. In Mekanı Cennet Olsun, we dedicate ourselves to the pain of loss and grief. As grief carves from the soul, Kulbay's performers carve from a linoleum tile that reflects that very pain.’

Release November 14, 5-8 pm, Konsthall C, Hökarängen
