Meeting of Minds
10–20 februari 2022

In 2019, Sweden celebrated a hundred years of women's suffrage. This date inspired Abir Boukhari to curate a series of meetings with other female artists titled Meeting of Minds. On show at Konsthall C Centrifug, this video project focuses on feminist visual practices concerning migration and exile. Together, these artists tackle what it means to have a transcultural background and become part of more than one society.
The first meeting was organized in Stockholm in 2019, where six artists from different cultural backgrounds exhibited their works and shared how they investigated feminist concepts in their artworks and the subject of migration.
Initially, the second meeting was to take place in 2020 in Karlstad as a public meeting and an exhibition featuring the artists work.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they met virtually via Zoom. During these meetings, topics of discussion shifted towards the impact of isolation, separation, death, and lockdown. Moreover, they investigated how these things have affected the outcome of their artistic work. As a result of these meetings, Konsthall C will be showing documentation from 2020/2021 where the artists share segments from their Meeting of Minds.
