Joséphine Klerks exhibits in our self-organised gallery Centrifug

I saw stars in the tree trunk
painted by the flesh and bones
of my ancestors

My feet are thirsty

I go back to the cave
To transcend in time and space
To find what was lost
in the first place

About the artist

Joséphine Klerks is a Sweden based multidisciplinary artist with Finnish, Dutch and Indonesian roots. Central in her work is to explore and depict a deep belief in the wholeness and balance of the natural world through an animistic and poetic lens. Through folkloric storytelling, she wishes to awaken reflections around a reciprocal worldview rooted in care and compassion for earth and society. She works with a range of practices such as painting, illustration, poetry, textile - as well as collecting and extracting earth pigments. Through her work, she encourages us to reimagine a more intimate relationship with Earth.

The artist will be present at the exhibition on Saturday, 2 November from 14:00-17:00.
