Konsthall C is excited to announce that Nine Yamamoto Masson will be the first artist to take part in the Transforming Bricks and Mortar residency in 2022.

The artist in residence program Transforming Brick and Mortar, taking place at the Research Station in Hökarängen, was developed to address Konsthall C as an infrastructure and explore possible futures for an organization that wants to work not only with decolonization but in a decolonial way. We're excited to announce that artist Nine Yamamoto Mansson will explore these themes with us as part of their residency this spring.

Nine Yamamoto Mansson is a multidisciplinary artist, practising theorist, researcher, translator and community organiser. Having experienced elite art world circles from the margins, their work is about identifying power structures and transforming them from the ground up in community with as wide a range of actors as possible.  They will work closely with our staff and program through engagement with Konsthall C’s history, its future ambitions, relevance in the community and its approach to (re)presenting art.

Nine's artistic practice examines and mobilises historical memory, ideology, resistance and counter-narratives at the site of their encounter with art. It discusses radical creative imagination as a critical forum and powerful method of resistance and transformation towards social equity and justice.

We look forward to welcoming them to the residency. You can read more about Nine's work here: https://nineyamamotomasson.com/
