What is noise? For whom? And what role does cultural spaces play in promoting a diverse and equitable urban landscape?

You are invited to a one-day conference on art and civil society, organized by Konsthall C in collaboration with the Nordic network Parasympathetic Beings and the project Dreaming Suburbs*. This event calls for all cultural actors invested in their immediate neighborhoods that are interested in a strategic conversation around the role of noise in public space.

10.00: Keynote presentation by Madeleine Hatz (artist and activist)

12.30: Artistic intervention in public space, by Madeleine Hatz and Mariam Jallow Tholozan

This event is free, but requires registration: https://form.jotform.com/242832032709049

In times of joy and crisis, groups and individuals are taking to the streets, at times making life uncomfortable for those whose plans to and from work are changed. But noise, as visual and aural disturbance, is also carefully executed by public power as Stockholm is ever growing, deeper and wider. While Swedish culture historically has revolved around the domestic sphere, there is potential in - and an urgent calling for - a vibrant public space.

Welcome to a day to network, discuss and reflect on cultural spaces as actors in civil society and urban landscapes. Join with colleagues to strengthen your organization, and deepen your understanding of art and culture as a democratic force.

*Parasympathetic Beings is a Nordic Network made up of Til Vægs (DK), Museum of Impossible Forms (FI), FEMMA Planning (FI), Konstfrämjandet Stockholm and Konsthall C. Dreaming Suburbs is a two-year project investigating sustainable practices in cultural production and urban development.
